Ticks On The Rise in Rochester

Rochester Regional Health Immediate Care locations are seeing more patients with tick bites than is typical in our region.

Ticks are becoming more of a problem and Rochester Regional Health's Immediate Care team is seeing a steady increase in patients each day. The soggy spring has been part of the reason for this rise -- but cases have been on the rise for the last seven years. 

Scott Allan, MD, said it's difficult to notice ticks unless you can visually see them. He says that while bites are not painful, if a tick is sucking your blood for more than 24 hours there is a good chance of contracting Lyme disease.
