POTSDAM, NY – Board certified General Surgeon Ronald Weissenberg, DO, has joined the St. Lawrence Health General Surgery team. He is providing services through his Canton-Potsdam Hospital office at 25 Cottage Street in Potsdam.
Dr. Weissenberg is certified by the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons, and earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree at Touro University, Vallejo, CA. His surgical residency and internship were completed at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital, Far Rockaway, NY.
“The St. Lawrence County region is a good fit for me because I enjoy the small community setting. I feel I get to know my patients better in a rural community, and likewise, they get to know me better,” Dr. Weissenberg said. “I may take care of a patient and then down the road, I may see a relative of theirs.
“Patients of the St. Lawrence Health facilities seem to be more appreciative of the great care they receive locally,” he added. “Also, the North Country is a very beautiful and fun place to live. It has so many outdoor activities that I am looking forward to doing, such as biking, hiking, and kayaking.”
Dr. Weissenberg comes to St. Lawrence Health with experience as Chief of Surgery, Interim Medical Director, Vice Chief of Staff, and Physician Advisor of Surgical Services. He has attended multiple surgical symposiums, and osteopathic specialist clinical assemblies. Dr. Weissenberg is a member of the American Osteopathic Association and American Medical Association.
