Rochester Regional Health’s Unity Hospital in Rochester, NY has recently been awarded an Advanced Certification in Palliative Care by The Joint Commission. This certification recognizes our team’s dedication to exceptional and family-centered care that enhances quality of life for those with serious illness.

“We are honored to be a part of the patient care team at Unity Hospital,” says Dr. Jeffrey Allen, Medical Director of the palliative care program at Unity. “We are proud of the work we do and of each other, and we look forward to continuing to provide the exceptional care that is required of a program certified by the Joint Commission.”

For their certification process, the Commission completes an extensive on-site review and evaluates standards of care, clinical practice guidelines, as well as performance measurements and improvement initiatives. Certification is ongoing and experts conduct on-site reviews every two years. Rochester Regional Health is proud to represent The Joint Commission’s gold seal of national quality in palliative care.
