Julie Warner underwent a bladder sling procedure with Dr. Marc Eigg at Rochester General Hospital in 2015.

Julie, a 44-year-old woman from Pittsford, noticed that she was starting to have what she called “an embarrassing leakage of urine” when she would go running. She had given birth to three children and it was only after that point that she noticed the issue.

“I would lose a little bit of urine every time my foot hit the ground,” Julie said. “Luckily, I’m stubborn so I thought, ‘Okay, I can manage this.’ But it was embarrassing. I would come home and say, ‘Oh great, I just went for a 3-mile run and I peed my pants for 2 ½ miles of it.’”

Julie was referred to Dr. Eigg when she moved to the area and said he came highly recommended as an OBGYN doctor.

“At one point he said, ‘You know, you probably could stand surgery.’ And it was really life changing for me,” Julie said.

“The kids have noticed that I can do more,” Julie said. “Things that I would say before, ‘Oh I can’t do that’ or ‘I can’t do that in this crowd.’ Now I don’t have any limitations.”

Julie and her kids are now able to go skiing, jump on the trampoline, and run – all together.

“There’s been no problems at all. It’s been wonderful,” Julie said. “You know, it is embarrassing to talk about, and it’s embarrassing if you have a situation like the one I did.”

“Being open about it, first of all, I found out that so many of my friends and the people that I ran with had the same issues. I know that at least three of my friends who I know through running have had procedures done as well.”

“I’m very grateful to Dr. Eigg for being able to help me get my life back, and make such a positive change in my life and in my activity level,” Julie said.
