The Rochester General Hospital Spiritual Care team is welcoming a new member.
Rev. E Scott Bassett, MS, will be the newest staff chaplain for the health system. As a life-long resident of the Rochester area, he is a familiar face in the chaplain community.
Bassett’s desire is to minister to those struggling in life, celebrate their successes, and connect with them on a personal level.
Bassett has earned Master’s degrees in Theological Studies from Northeastern Seminary and Strategic Leadership from Roberts Wesleyan College. His studies also include three internships and one residency in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
Prior to joining Rochester Regional Health, Bassett served an associate pastor ministering to homebound, hospitalized, and nursing home parishioners, and had a prior career as project manager at IBM in their network services division.
Bassett spends his leisure time with his wife, hiking across many of the scenic parts of Western New York and eating good food with good company.
Rochester General Hospital employs four chaplains as part of its Spiritual Care program. Each person is uniquely equipped to support patients and staff alike as they navigate the spiritual, emotional, and physical areas of their health.
Chaplains are available in the hospital Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-9 p.m.. They also remain on call for urgent matters 24/7.
