McGregor Takes The Helm As SLH President

POTSDAM, NY – Donna McGregor, FACHE, FHFMA, has taken over the helm as the President for St. Lawrence Health (SLH), which includes three North Country hospitals and multiple off-site facilities.

Ms. McGregor joined SLH two years ago in July 2020 as the system-wide Chief Financial Officer. She holds a Master of Business Administration in Finance with distinction from Long Island University, and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Siena College. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE), and a Fellow of the Healthcare Financial Management Association (FHFMA).

“I am very excited and honored to have started my new role as President of St. Lawrence Health. Much of our success in providing safe compassionate care over the years is due to the leadership of my predecessor David Acker, who offered steadfast support and unwavering leadership,” Ms. McGregor said.

She noted she is extremely proud of the providers and staff throughout Canton-Potsdam, Gouverneur, and Massena hospitals for the major and recent accomplishment of having launched the Epic electronic medical record system, which includes the MyCare patient portal.

“So much was accomplished over a short period of time, as our staff engaged in many dedicated hours to launch Epic. St. Lawrence Health is now among the nationally recognized health care systems that provides [our] patients with an integrated medical record,” Ms. McGregor stated.

Upon coming to SLH two years ago, Ms. McGregor brought a plethora of experience with her. She has spent her entire career in the New York State health care industry, having served as an Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and President/CEO positions. Among her many honors and rewards, she was a recipient of the Senior Executive Regent Award from the American College of Healthcare Executives, Power of Women Award from Westchester County Business Journal, Woman of Distinction Award from the New York State Senate, and Top 25 Emerging Leaders Award from Modern HealthCare.

“Over the years I was fortunate to evolve in various administrative roles in health systems, as well as having national exposure on various board committees for Quality, Patient Safety and Finance,” Ms. McGregor noted.

During the coming months and years, Ms. McGregor will focus on expanding the SLH workforce through collaboration and education, continue to partner with the North Country colleges and universities, and further expanding clinical and operational collaborations with Rochester Regional Health, the system’s parent company.

“My goal is to continue to make SLH the best rural health system we can be on a local as well as a national level. We will further continue to raise the bar,” she exclaimed.
