MASSENA, NY – Triple board certified Psychiatrist Aqeel Khan, MD, FCPS-1, has joined the Psychiatry/Behavioral Health team at Massena Hospital, and is practicing on the main floor of the Hospital in the Behavioral Health suite.
Dr. Khan is certified in Psychiatry, General Psychiatry, and Geriatric Psychiatry by the American Board of Medical Specialties, and is further certified in Addiction Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Sindh Medical College/University of Karachi, Pakistan; and completed his residency at the Chicago Medical School/Finch University of Behavior Sciences, North Chicago, IL. Dr. Khan received a Fellowship in Geriatric Psychiatry at Mount Sinai, School of Medicine, New York, NY; and is a Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (FCPS-1).
“Being able to work in a small town in the North Country is the perfect fit for me. It is so much better than working in a large city where there is so much stress,” Dr. Khan said. “The people are wonderfully kind here, and the St. Lawrence River and entire region are simply beautiful.”
Dr. Khan comes to St. Lawrence Health with experience as a Chief Psychiatrist and psychiatry educator, as well as with extensive knowledge in writing publications, being involved in research, and giving presentations.
He is a member of the American Society of Addition Medicine, Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North American, and Imamia Medics International.
As a Psychiatrist, Dr. Khan works with patients who have substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, autism, depression, and several other behavioral health disorders.
