POTSDAM, NY – Physician Assistant Natalie Dennen and Bruce Grattan, DO, have joined the St. Lawrence Health (SLH) Emergency Medicine team. Both providers will be working in emergency departments at Canton-Potsdam Hospital, and Massena Hospital, and Dr. Grattan will also provide services at Gouverneur Hospital. Ms. Dennen will further offer patient care at the Canton and Potsdam urgent care centers.

Ms. Dennen earned her Physician Assistant Studies degree from the University of New England, Portland, ME; and was a Physician Assistant Fellow at Bluewater Health, Brunswick, ME.

She comes to SLH with experience in a bustling urgent care system, a Level II Trauma Center, and is also a certified Department of Transportation Medical Examiner, and former Athletic Trainer.

Dr. Grattan earned his medical degree at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Biddeford, ME; where he also completed a pre-doctoral teaching Fellowship in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine and Anatomy.

Dr. Grattan previously served as a Teaching Assistant at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and as an Adjunct Instructor at Stony Brook Department of Family Medicine. He is certifed in Emergency Neurologic Life Support, has more than two dozen peer-reviewed publications, abstracts, and book chapters, and is a Registered Dietitian.

Ms. Dennen and Dr. Grattan are more than colleagues, they are also married.

”My wife and I are thrilled to be joining the SLH community, which offers a collegial work environment backed by a supportive team where each of us can do what we love; practice emergency medicine,” Dr. Grattan said. “We look forward to being a part of this progressive group of medical professionals who have the opportunity every day to serve this wonderful community.

“This is such a vibrant and dynamic local community with so much to see, do, and explore; it seems to have all our family could want, and more,” he added.

Ms. Dennen agreed that she is overjoyed to be part of the SLH system and the North Country communities.

“I am excited to contribute to the health care of the regional people, and to become an active member of the local culture. I grew up in a small town in Maine with many similarities and though the twists and turns of life have taken me away from Maine, I feel very at home here already,” she said.

“My husband and I are honored to be able to raise our daughter in such a vibrant community so close to the mountains,” Ms. Dennen continued. “Potsdam has so much to offer in a small, supportive community. I look forward to sipping coffee at local cafes, green living, and hiking.”
