MASSENA, NY – Board certified physician Michelle Prentice, MD, has joined the Massena Hospital Primary Care Medical Group. Her office is located in the Medical Office Building, 181 Maple Street, Massena.
Dr. Prentice is American Board of Family Medicine certified, and she earned her medical degree from SABA University School of Medicine, Saba, Carribbean Netherlands, where she was also trained in Hyperbaric Medicine. She completed her residency in Family Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI.
Dr. Prentice pointed out the atmosphere throughout St. Lawrence Health and the North Country region are just what she has been seeking.
“Nowhere else have I encountered such consistent occupational pride in staff and leaders alike. I have yet to meet an employee who doesn't beam as they describe the amazing evolution of their department, and the great things they have and will continue to accomplish, despite any obstacles. They walk tall with purpose, smiling wide, and laughing often. Happiness is inspired here,” she said.
“I have a special affinity for the north, having been born and raised in near-by Ottawa. I am a water- and snow-baby at heart, and look forward to some social and recreational time around the St. Lawrence River and Adirondacks,” Dr. Prentice noted.
She is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, having served on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Academy of Family Physicians, and is also a member of the American College of Preventive Medicine. Furthermore, she is fluent in English and French.
As a Family Medicine physician, Dr. Prentice performs and/or requests diagnostic tests, makes diagnoses, prescribes treatments, administers vaccinations, and performs follow-up examinations for pediatric and adult patients alike.
